Adair County is located in southwestern Iowa. It is named for John Adair, fifth governor of Kentucky.
The seat and the largest city are both Greenfield.
Main highways through the county include I-80, US-6, IA-25 and IA-92.
The county borders Guthrie, Madison, Adams, Union and Cass Counties.
